The Porter-Cable 18V Infrared Thermometer takes non-contact surface temperature measurements to shows energy leaks or hot spots. It has LEDs that change color to show temperature differences - blue shows spots cooler and red shows spots warmer than the reference temperature by more than the threshold. It has three temperature threshold settings - 1-Degree, 5-Degree, 10-Degree for quickly detecting different temperature changes and a 12:1 spot ratio for more accurate readings. It can accurately measures temperatures from -22-DegreeF to 590-DegreeF allowing for use in a greater number of applications.

It has a back lit LCD display that clearly displays reference and scan temperatures and threshold setting. It has an attached lens cap cover for protection when the unit is not in use. It includes a temperature record button that allows user to record 10 readings for when the screen or LED beam are out of sight, such as when put through an access hole or used above head height. With the playback button users can scroll through recorded temperatures for easy review of temperatures stored. Measurements can be switched from Fahrenheit to centigrade. It has and automatic shut off after 20 minutes that reduces the drain on the battery. Compatible with Porter-Cable Lithium Ion and NiCD battery packs allows user to use all Porter-Cable 18-Volt batteries regardless of chemistry.
