I bought one of these a year ago to add to my tool set. I have a Makita 4" grinder I bought over 25 years ago and it is still running, I got tired of waiting for it to die so I could replace it. I wanted the convenience of the spindle lock featured on the newer machines. I just bought another one, now I have the old 4' set up with a cut off wheel, a new 4.5' with a hard wheel and a brand new 4.5' with a flap wheel. This saves lots of time switching wheels during a job. Makita Grinders are high quality long life tools, buy them once and get to work. I prefer the paddle switch, I do however knock out the pin and remove the safety button on the paddle. I also run with scissors so hold the calls to the safety police. Also, be sure to look for the "lock on" button, it is easy to miss on the paddle version, but a great feature that I also appreciate. Finally, you can't beat Factory Outlet's service or prices, this is my second Makita purchase from them and I cannot be more pleased with them, buy with confidence these folks are first rate.
